ADOPT-A-FAMILY
Below are ministry opportunities for your consideration during the end of the year Holiday Season offered by the Ben Hill Outreach Ministry and Prison Ministry. Please participate in one or all, depending on how you are led to serve. We appreciate all efforts of service and support!
The "Angels are back!" This Sunday please select your Angel in-person in the former nursery area. You may also select your Angel(s) ONLINE HERE.
ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM | Sunday, Dec. 15, immediately after 9:15am Service
Description: This is an annual Churchwide Christmas Outreach where various ministries individuals and families sponsor needy families in our community with Christmas Gifts, Fellowship Opportunities and more!

PRE-REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
What do we do?
- Members, friends, families and individuals sponsor families by purchasing Christmas gifts and other items that may be needed by the family.
- All of the participants are invited to worship with us during our worship service on the 3rd Sunday.
- Following the worship service, the participants are invited to a reception in the fellowship hall where they meet the individuals, families or ministries that adopted their families.
- Participants are able to take pictures with Santa Claus and enjoy delicious holiday refreshments as Christmas gifts are distributed
What are the Dates for this Event:
This event is held on December 15, 2024, following the 9:15AM Worship Service.
How Can I help?
- We need volunteers from 9AM-2PM. (We may need volunteers to assist with transporting gifts to the participants homes.)
- We need individuals, families, friends and ministries to adopt a family. You can adopt a small family, large family or multiple families. We provide you with a child profile sheet that tells you about the child you are adopting and a wish list.
- We need donations of holiday wrapping paper, gift bags, clear tape, ribbons and gift labels.
- We need donations of Large Marshalls or other Department Store Reusable Shopping Bags. (.99)
TRINITY TABLE | Sunday, Dec. 8, 12-2:30pm
Description: Ben Hill UMC rotates with other United Methodist Churches in the North Georgia Conference to volunteer every Sunday of the year to provide meals to homeless men and women. Trinity Table provides food for the hungry in a hospitable setting that affirms the dignity and worth of those in need. Trinity Table is a Sunday Soup Kitchen that has been serving the hungry of Atlanta since 1982.
What do we do? We provide homeless men and women with hot and grab and go meals, prayer and other resources and supports that are available such as bibles, hygiene kits, gloves, hats, scarves, shoes, clothing and blankets.
What are the Dates for this Event:
Meal Preparation: Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9-11am at BHUMC
Meal Serving: Sunday, Dec. 8, from 12PM-2:30PM at Trinity UMC
How Can I help?
- We need volunteers to prepare the grab and go bags on Saturday
- We need volunteers to serve on that Sunday
- We need donations of socks, gloves, hats and shoes. For women we need new bras, panties and sanitary pads. (All sizes)
Deadline to drop off donations is Dec. 4 via the Food Bank Drive Thru, 10am to 12pm.

Registration for Toys for Tots is now closed.
What do we do? Starting in 2024, Ben Hill UMC became a distribution site for the Southwest Atlanta Area. We have partnered with the United Way to get referrals for families to come to Ben Hill. The referred families are able to select two gifts of their choice, per child (ages 11 and UNDER) per household. The families are also provided with gift wrapping paper and bags so that they can proudly wrap the gifts they selected for their children.
How Can you help?
We need volunteers to sign up for the Toys for Tots pickup dates noted below.
Remaining Toys for Tots PICKUP DATES:
-- 8:30am-12:30pm: NOV. 18 to NOV. 22 and DEC. 2 to DEC. 6
-- 8:30am-1:30pm: DEC. 7

TOUCHING HEARTS WITH ACTS OF LOVE | Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, 10am-2pm
Description: This is a Churchwide Thanksgiving Outreach Initiative offered to needy families and veterans with children or raising grandchildren in the community. Participants are invited and welcomed inside of our church to fellowship with members friends and volunteers. Pre-registration is closed.
What do we do?
The following activities occur during this event:
- FREE Haircuts for Boys
- Facials and Beauty Classes for Mothers provided by members who are Professional Mary K Consultants
- REE face painting and pictures
- Canvas Painting and Other games and activities
- A Prayer station available for those who desire prayer.
- A traditional HOT Thanksgiving meal is served
- A brief prayer, praise and worship service is held following the meal.
- After the service is completed we provide the participants with FREE Turkeys or Hams, a basket of non-perishable food to prepare their own Thanksgiving meals, a monetary gift card based on the family household size to purchase perishable food items, and a household basket with cleaning supplies, disinfects, and other household supplies including laundry detergent, bleach and fabric softener.
