ADVENT

As we begin this Advent season and focus on the birth of our Lord and Savior, we need to remember what we have been concentrating on for the past few months and that is: The Lord’s prayer from Luke 11:1-13. The Lord wants to be our father and have a relationship with us. It’s no time like the season of Advent to make this happen.

Our Sunday school lesson a few Sundays ago offered a song that I have never heard of before. It is on page 206 in the Methodist hymnal, and I would like to hear it played (hint, hint, Willie). It is titled “I Want to Walk as a Child of Light.” The first verse says “I want to walk as a child of the light. I want to follow Jesus. God set the stars to give light to the world. The star of my life is Jesus.” As children of light, God waits for us to ask. He is our father, and He wants to hear from us through prayer. As we walk along this journey in this Advent season, spend time in prayer. If we are children of light, then we act and live as Christ lived. We live the Fruit of the Spirit and during this season of Advent, we show love to everyone. Yes, everyone. Our Father longs to walk on this journey with us. His ear is ever listening to our cry, and He is at work on our behalf before we utter a word to Him. Isaiah 65:24 explains, “Before they call, I will answer, while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” God is always only a prayer away. He is watching His children of light and walking with us each day. He hears every whisper and every plea. So, hold your head up Children of the Light and pray and make sure to include the Lord’s prayer every day.

Amen and Amen.
